The Residence Director has the overall responsibility for a campus residence hall and staff of undergraduate para-professionals. The student development program is approached through the staff development concept, which includes training, selection, supervision, and evaluation of para-professional staff members. The Residence Director is responsible for such areas as programming, crisis intervention, disciplinary conferences, budgeting, facilities, supervision, and occupancy management.
Knowledge and Abilities:
This position requires excellent oral and written skills and an understanding of Residential Life and student development. Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, a strong customer focus, and excellent skills in administration, organization, collaboration, writing, supervision and training. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multitask operations/projects, establish workload priorities, balance diverse tasks, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and deal with confidential and sensitive matters in a professional manner. This is a 12 month "live in" position and is required to participate in On Call Duty rotation 365 days a year. Variable Hours are sometimes required.
EDUCATION: Master's degree in student personnel, counseling or related field required.
EXPERIENCE: At least two years of post undergraduate Residence Life experience required. Demonstrated interpersonal skills: e.g., counseling, group work, general human relations. Experience in training, selection and supervision of student staff required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google calendar, shared drives, Banner, and Maxient strongly preferred.
