Compliance Services provides structural coordination of and support to compliance activities across the institution in a wide range of areas, including research, health and safety, information, financial, civil rights, and employment. Program functions include development of policies and standards, education and outreach, investigations, auditing and monitoring, risk assessment and mitigation, regulatory monitoring, process improvement and program modification, leadership and oversight support, and on-going evaluation and reporting of program effectiveness.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Learning and Technology Manager.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Compliance Services, with day-to-day oversight by the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Compliance and Risk Services, the Learning and Technology Manager will be responsible for the technology, learning, web, and data needs of Compliance Services, including: developing and implementing online and in-person education, training and outreach systems for a variety of audiences for institution-wide compliance-related issues; evaluating, recommending, and overseeing the implementation of software, hardware, and electronic systems; managing departmental website technologies and content; and developing reports for UW senior leadership, to assist in divisional decision-making. The Learning and Technology Manager will also lead unit-based management initiatives, participate in system-wide initiatives and projects, and provide project management. This position directly supervises one professional-level staff position, as well as any technology-based hourly, temporary and intern staff used for projects.
70% Learning Management
Collaborate with leadership and content area experts in various compliance areas across the institution including operational units that are responsible for compliance in research, financial, information, civil rights and employment, and health and safety to design, develop, and implement learning resources for institution-wide compliance education, outreach and training initiatives. Learning resources may be managed in whole or in part by Compliance Services, and/or developed in a consultative role for other units' ownership and use.
Conduct needs analysis, determine appropriate delivery methods, and develop objectives and lesson content based on business or function needs.
Develop project plans including scope, goals, deliverables and associated tasks; identify and monitor critical pathway for successful completion of projects within the resources and timelines allotted.
As needed, prepare and/or conduct presentations on status of projects for sponsors and/or constituents.
Establish guidelines for consultative work done for other units.
Develop the visual layout of the education, training and outreach user interface, including the themes, messaging, testing, aesthetics, artwork, information, presentation, interaction design, and publishing to ensure the message/content effectively reaches and is understood by target audience.
Create, or oversee the creation of, effective assessments for each training session that are aligned with training objectives and successfully measure outcome of training.
Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to support learning initiatives.
Evaluate, recommend and implement technology delivery systems, including learning management systems (LMS).
Build and maintain partnerships with institution-wide learning communities and compliance-related operational units across campus. Convene and lead groups to determine and develop institution-wide compliance-related best practices and guidelines for education, training and outreach.
Apply best practices and knowledge of instructional design to the strategy, design, and delivery of education, training and outreach; evaluate and research new technologies and emerging training issues; maintain knowledge of industry trends and educational resources and use working knowledge to select instructional techniques and tools.
Maintain online library of education and outreach resources.
15% Web Development
Develop and implement strategies and content for Compliance Services website.
Collaborate with operational unit web site owners to identify intersecting compliance-related web development, content needs and opportunities for collaboration and efficiencies.
Develop and implement institution-wide compliance web strategies.
Recommend platforms for communicating and collaborating with departmental stakeholders, including web-based and desktop electronic communication technologies.
15% Information Development and Management
Identify ways to collect and utilize available data to track success of training program.
Develop and oversee Compliance Services information tools, data, and software applications.
Oversee the design and/or evaluate compliance information processing systems, databases and applications designed to track and report compliance activities, projects and functions which may also include synthesizing data from various organizational units with compliance-related responsibilities across the institution.
Determine common points of information gathering, conduct needs analysis, and make recommendations on data aggregation and storage for institution-wide compliance activities.
Present and implement technological alternatives to streamline functions and improve unit productivity and/or tracking and/or reporting.
Work closely with senior leadership to develop and generate reports to support strategic decision-making
| * Master's degree in business, technology, information management, communications, education or other related field. |
* At least 5 years of experience managing education and outreach projects with multiple stakeholders to successful completion includes needs analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance.
* Strong working knowledge of various authoring and education, training and outreach development tools, for example: Articulate, Captivate, Flash, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Lectora, Camtasia, Fireworks, Adobe Presenter and/or Illustrator.
* Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and analytical skills.
* Self-motivated, able to work on own, as part of a team, and lead a team.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
