Summary: The position requires an earned doctorate (by 6/30/2017) in Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field with an academic specialization in bilingual education (18 doctoral hours in bilingual education) from an accredited institution; a strong background in literacy education, evidence of ongoing research and scholarly productivity, at least three years full-time teaching experience as a K-12 classroom teacher, preferably in a public school setting; a commitment to excellence in teaching, including the ability to model exemplary methods for working with diverse populations of learners; the ability to use instructional technology; demonstrated accomplishments in, or potential for, service in a university setting; and a willingness to collaborate extensively with other professionals in elementary and secondary education, including those in local schools and professional organizations.

Candidates must have demonstrated ability and/or interest in teaching in a multiethnic, multilingual, multicultural environment.
At least three years full-time experience as a K-12 classroom teacher, preferably in a public school setting
Bilingual in Spanish and English with oral and written academic proficiency in both languages.
Demonstrated understanding of historical and current trends, challenges, legislation, and legal dimensions in bilingual education.
Strong background in literacy education.
Experience integrating PK-12 fieldwork in the preparation of bilingual and ESL educators.
Experience in field-based teacher education programs.
Knowledge of online instruction and instructional technology.
Experience in creating/leading professional development activities for teachers.
At least one peer-reviewed publication.
Knowledge of standards for CAEP: Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (formerly NCATE).
