The Director, Major Giving for Boston College Law School reports to the Executive Director, Campaign Planning & Law School Advancement/Associate Dean, Boston College Law School. With a focus on significantly increasing team-wide success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts to the law school, s/he manages the Law School major giving officers, providing strategic advice and day-to-day management of these development professionals. The Director also manages a portfolio of law school prospects with a focus on $500K-$1M+ capacity prospects, and works with the ED&AD, the Dean of the Law School, and his senior administrators to ensure maximum success that aligns with the school's fundraising priorities. Specific responsibilities include:
Manage two-three major gift officers to support efforts to double the gifts they raise from major donors to the law school by ensuring that ambitious productivity goals are set and met, collaboration across the advancement team occurs as needed to achieve fundraising goals, and that staff are receiving the necessary training and professional development to maximize their contributions to BC.
Serve as a resource on matters of prospect strategy and, where appropriate, offer new approaches and techniques and potential creative solutions to complex solicitations.
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects in assigned regions and at various stages of engagement with Boston College Law School, including management of some prospects who serve on the Dean's Advisory Board. Assist the ED&AD with board development and management.
Assist the ED&AD with planning and managing the Dean's time for major giving advancement purposes.
Engage with Law School faculty members to identify and execute on opportunities that leverage their commitment to BC Law to maximize fundraising outcomes.
Support the ED&AD with efforts to represent the Law School within University Advancement to increase the visibility of the Law School priorities across the various major giving units. More specifically, assist with efforts to position colleagues across UA to better engage law alumni, for example, through reunions, the legacy giving society, and parent programming.
Partner with the ED&AD to position BC Law for its next campaign. As part of that effort, the Director of Major Giving will oversee the launch of Law School regional leadership councils.
