The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine in the Division of Genomic Medicine, are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology.
The Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine is seeking an outstanding candidate with expertise in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Human Genetics, Genomics, or related field for a full-time faculty member with clinical service, research (clinical and translational), and teaching responsibilities at the Assistant Professor level serving as the Assistant Director of Bioinformatics at the Center for Personalized Medicine (CPM) at CHLA. The Assistant Director, Bioinformatics, will join the CPM clinical and scientific team and will be leading the development of a genomic data infrastructure and an integrated web-based bioinformatics software platform to support both research and clinical needs of CPM.
The successful candidate must hold an MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree with training and demonstrated accomplishment in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related field. Technical expertise in designing and developing web-and cloud-based bioinformatics next generation sequencing data analysis solutions, related programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, Etc.), knowledge of database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, monogoDB), big data analytics, development and implementation of databases for genotype/phenotype correlations, and a deep knowledge of both academic and commercial informatics solutions are strongly desired. Experience building and leading teams to develop and implement bioinformatics solutions is desired. The successful candidate will participate in multi-disciplinary clinical and research teams working in the fields of clinical and cancer genomics at CHLA and KSOM.
