The Public Health Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health seeks a senior investigator to assume the position of Scientific Director. The position will be responsible for the technical and scientific leadership of a group of clinical and public health investigators who conduct research on the health of populations through mathematical modeling and simulation
We seek a senior investigator at the rank of Associate of Full Professor, either with Tenure or in the Tenure Stream depending upon the background and credentials. We expect that a successful candidate will have a PhD in computationally intensive area, such as Computational or Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research or Engineering, but will consider any field as long as a significant amount of the candidate's work has involved modeling and simulation. This position will require that the candidate have experience in mathematical modeling of biological phenomena at the population scale, computer science, research software design, optimization, and the management of a professional programming staff. We would also expect that he candidate would have experience in and a desire to continue teaching in graduate programs.
This position is not specifically attached to a single department. The departmental home of the successful candidate will be determined by mutual agreement and where the academic fit is best.
