Certified Surgical Technician in a fast paced, high risk Labor and Delivery Unit. Incumbent performs fairly complex surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training.
Job responsibilities include scrubbing for Obstetric surgeries and procedures; maintaining sterile surgical technique; management of surgical equipment, instruments and supplies, informal education to nursing and medical staff. Outside of the Operating Room, responsibilities include management and use of high level disinfectants, stocking of labor rooms, transporting labs, transporting patients, and occasional clerical duties.
BLS/CPR at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
One (1) year of approved Surgical Technician specialized training/certification.
Excellent customer service and communications skills.
Demonstrated team player with critical thinking skills.
One to two (1 - 2) years of related experience in a Hospital setting.
Must be able to work various hours & locations based on business needs; must able be to work overtime as required.
Must be open to expansion of the Jacobs Medical Center in fall 2016 (most Women & Infant Services are likely to move to La Jolla). Must be able to work in both locations.
