This position is to provide technical support to NIH-funded research on the pathogenesis of tuberculosis infection and the development and testing of novel vaccines and host-directed therapies for TB. Experiments with virulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis will be performed in biosafety level 3 laboratory in vitro and in vivo using mouse models. Mouse lung imaging and immunological analyses will be performed to assess immune cell functions during the course of TB infection in genetically resistant and susceptible mice. Responsibilities will also include preparation of bacterial stocks, designing and testing of experimental protocols and performing equipment maintenance and reagent preparation.
Salary: Grade 24
Bachelor's or Master's degree with a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience is required.
Prior experience in a BSL3 research lab, immunology, immunochemistry and animal work are desirable.
