The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics.
The Director of Educational Research and Development will work with the Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Pediatrics to implement and carry-out educational research within the Department of Pediatrics, as well as provide mentorship and consultation to faculty on topics related to educational scholarship. The Director will also participate in the Department's Academy of Pediatric Leaders in Education (APLE) as the co-chair of the Scholarship Committee. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of educational scholarship and publication, as well as experience with faculty mentorship and development. Previous success with obtaining grant funding for educational projects is desirable.
The focus of work will include:Lead teams to plan, develop, implement and evaluate curriculum in a scholarly manner
Lead teams to conduct scholarly research in the field of medical education
Provide statistical analysis assistance
Participate in all aspects of faculty development related to teaching and education
Mentor junior faculty members about careers in medical education and specific educational research projects, presentations and publications
Assist with manuscript preparation and submission
Identify funding opportunities
Lead grant writing and grant submission efforts
Required Qualifications: PhD degree in education or equivalent
A track record of success in research and publication in the field of education
Experience in statistical analysis and evaluation
Experience with mentoring faculty
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the field of medical education
Expertise in instructional design
Experience with grant writing, success in obtaining funding, success in implementing grant funded programs
Three years related academic experience
