|Provides health care to adolescent and adult patients to include assessing and treating a wide variety of conditions, ailments and injuries. Diagnose, manage and treat patients: obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, provide treatment, prescribe medication and counsel patients on diet, exercise and preventative health care. Refers patients with more serious conditions to specialists for more complex care or other health care facilities for more intensive care. May act as head of the treatment team, providing consultation and direction to mid-level practitioners and nursing staff. |
Ã¯ Provides direct patient care in the Urgent Care Clinic, including during extended hours of operation (evenings and weekends): Ã¯ Triages promptly and takes appropriate steps toward initial stabilization of critically ill or injured patient (e.g., organ system failure). Ã¯ Provides appropriate initial care for a wide range of medical and surgical problems: Ã¯ Evaluates and initially treats musculoskeletal injuries, using x-ray and splinting appropriately. Ã¯ Evaluates and initially treats urgent medical and gynecological problems. Ã¯ Sutures uncomplicated lacerations. Ã¯ Performs incision and drainage of superficial abscesses. Ã¯ Evaluates and begins treatment of psychiatric emergencies Ã¯ Evaluates and treats work-related injuries, including taking an occupational history and making appropriate assessments of ability to return to work and medical restrictions on work activities. Ã¯ Works efficiently to prioritize patients' problems, treating urgent problems first, and other problems as time permits. Ã¯ Recommends and facilitates follow-up, as appropriate Ã¯ Provides decisive leadership in unit; acts with good judgment in situations that require liaison with administration, other units and/or community. Ã¯ Works effectively as member of clinical team, and provides consultation to other team members, including nurse practitioners and nurses.
May provide direct patient care in the Primary Care Clinic: Ã¯ Works as member of team with other clinic staff, including nurse practitioners, nurses and support staff. Ã¯ Provides consultation for nurse practitioners and advice nurses. Ã¯ Sees appointed patients in a timely manner. Ã¯ Integrates patient education into medical practice, including preventive and health maintenance, as appropriate. Ã¯ Arranges follow-up including appropriate referral to specialists. _Ã¯ Requires knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of Physician duties at this level. Ã¯ Proficient clinical skills, including Urgent Care / Emergency Room experience for Urgent Care work Ã¯ Must be able to communicate with both patients and clinical staff members. Ã¯ Must have effective diagnostic and decision making skills. Ã¯ Must be able to work in a collaborative manner. Ã¯ Must be able to diagnose patient condition and make associated treatment recommendations. Ã¯ Must be able to influence others. Ã¯ Requires knowledge of electronic/medical records systems, computer literacy Ã¯ Must be able to keep pace within appointment system or pace appropriate to drop-in patient load; generally work within limits of available resources and within expected goals of productivity. Ã¯ Must maintain professional standards for communications and documentation. Ã¯ Medical record entries are organized into history, physical examination, assessment and plan. Education/Licensure: Ã¯ Active California Medical License Ã¯ Current DEA Certification and NPI Number Ã¯ Registration in CA Dept. of Justice CURES program Ã¯ Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine Ã¯ Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board.
