The Rutgers Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation (RIME) Group has been developing expertise in the finite element analysis of bridges as well as the application of structural health monitoring (SHM) of bridges for the past decade. We are now seeking qualified post-doctoral and research associates/fellows and doctoral students to synthesize the results of the research projects conducted to date. Candidates are expected to work toward extending these results to practical testing and analysis procedures that can be adopted by bridge owners and managers as part of their larger SHM strategies.
The ideal candidate(s) will possess a Ph.D. or M.S in Structural Engineering, with a background in multiple areas of research such as, but not limited to: field instrumentation and testing of bridges, advanced sensor technology, weigh-in-motion (WIM) system and technology, processing and managing big data, finite element modeling and analysis using ABAQUS with dynamic perspective, advanced nonlinear analysis methods, reliability-based analysis methods and probabilistic simulations, structural dynamics, numerical simulation of the dynamic response of bridges, laboratory-based testing of various advanced cementitious materials, corrosion of rebars in concrete bridge decks, and concrete technology. Prior experience with field-based SHM as well as ABAQUS for dynamic analysis is also highly desirable.
