The University of Houston-Downtown seeks a tenture-track assistant Professor of Communications Studies in Organizational/Corporate Communication to join a rapidly growing program offering a B.A. in communication Studies with developing concentrations in Corporate Communication, Rhetorical/ Public Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Health Communication, and Media Studies along with minors in Communication Studies and interdisciplinary minors in Film Studies, Religious Studies, Gender Studies and Critical Race Studies. Successful candidates will be expected to:
Teach a range of undergraduate communication courses including Communication Theory and Research in Communication Studies, as well as those with a special focus in organizational and corporate communication, such as organizational Communication, Advertising as Communication, Communications and Leadership , and Training and Development.
Sustain an active research agenda in Rhetorical Communication
Display an ongoing commitment to committee work and community involvement
Candidates with research interests in an area of Critical Race Studies will be especially attractive. Success with grant writing would be considered advantageous.
This appointment will begin in August 2017. Although a PH.D. in Communication Studies is desirable, ABD’s will be considered with the provision that a hiring contract is conditional upon the university receiving proof of completion of the Ph.D. no later than February 1,2017
