| Advertised Summary Job Description: The Mailman School of Public Health introduces an opportunity to conduct research on the future of public health education. The Short Term Casual will help with two areas of research:|
The first is to perform an overview of changes in technology and delivery that have transformed how key industries now function. These include film/photography, music, movies/television, transportation, hotels, car rental, air travel, grocery shopping, and others. Using that information, we are interested in developing scenarios for the education industry, i.e. how can public health education benefit from recent paradigm shifts in other industries?
The second is to survey the top ten schools of public health, the Mailman School included, and other graduate schools via website, print and digital content, recruitment material, customer service, site visits, and more. We are interested in identifying how various education products for both degree earning and non-degree students, including online programs, are being marketed and priced. We are also seeking a review of marketing materials that illustrate how each school positions itself and attempts to establish a unique brand. In this regard, we need to answer the following questions:
1. What online public health programs currently exist? what online programs at Columbia currently exist? Are these programs staffed and supported with existing teaching, technology, and administrative staff or separate online divisions? What capacity exist within Columbia to support transition to online education?
2. How did traditional degree programs transition to online programs?
3. What certificates or documentation of completion for online programs do various divisions within Columbia offer?
The final product will be a written report and oral presentation, which will summarize the research and explore implications for public health education, and expanding offerings at the Mailman School of Public Health in the future.
