Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, NYS License/Registration or eligible as a Registered Nurse, two years post-licensure acute care experience (preferably in ED), excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Nursing Leadership certification upon appointment or obtained within three years of appointment, plus CPR certification required. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Assistant Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Unit Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff , deals with staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices.
