Posting Summary: The Department of Public Health Sciences is expanding to meet its commitments to teaching, methodological research and collaborations with researchers at the University of Virginia Cancer Center and other departments in the School of Medicine. One tenure-eligible position is available at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department has extensive collaborations with the NCI-designated UVa Cancer Center and with clinical and basic science departments in the UVa School of Medicine. Opportunities are available for both collaborative work on cancer research and for independent investigation.
Responsibilities of the position include collaboration with Cancer Center members, methodological research, and teaching in the School of Medicine. The University of Virginia is located in central Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley, and two hours' drive from Washington, DC.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in biostatistics or in statistics. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. In keeping with the mission of the Department, experience in the analysis of laboratory data and experimental design; in teaching; and grant writing as principal investigator or co-investigator are preferred.
