The University of Michigan Department of Dermatology invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek an innovative and accomplished investigator with postgraduate training in bioinformatics and laboratory-based research in epigenetics to complement and diversify our department’s existing research areas: aging skin, psoriasis genetics, psoriasis immunology (including microbiome studies) and skin cancer.
The successful candidate will establish an externally funded research program to pursue epigenetics regulation of aging in human skin. Teaching and research mentoring are expected at various levels (students, house officers, fellows and staff). Duties will include authoring publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presenting findings at relevant national meetings, as well as pursuing national, peer-reviewed research funding (e.g., NIH and external award funding) as a principal investigator. Good departmental citizenship and collegiality are expected, with participation in departmental committees and/or university service.
Applicants must possess a MD, PhD, or MD/PhD and relevant postgraduate training. Demonstrated experience with epigenetics mechanisms that regulate biological processes is required. Individuals who have research experience in aging and mouse models are encouraged to apply. Evidence of scholarly ability (successful acquisition of external funding, record of peer-reviewed publications, record of presentation of research results) is expected. Excellent teaching and communication skills, as well as a strong commitment to undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral education are essential.
