The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley has openings for part-time lecturers to teach labs in Biology 1AL during the fall and/or spring semesters of the 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years. Lecturers will be required to teach multiple sections of the laboratory class, typically three or four each semester. Lecturers are required to teach animal dissections during the second half of the course.
The percentage of the appointment will vary with the number of labs taught, but it will not be less than 50%. Minimum basic qualifications: BA or equivalent in general biology by the time of application. Additional qualifications: documented experience in teaching biology at the college level is required by the start date. Preferred qualifications: M.A. or Ph.D or equivalent. Minimum annual full-time salary rate of $51,494; salary to be commensurate with experience.
The initial review date for submissions for Fall 2015 is May 22, 2015, but the posting will remain open until April 21, 2017 to accommodate upcoming needs and new applicants. Applications received by May 22, 2015 will receive priority for Fall 2015; to receive full consideration, please submit all materials prior to this date. The position is open until filled.
The department typically reviews applications for the fall semester in May and for the spring semester in October. Positions are part-time, renewable, non-tenure track, beginning as early as July 2015. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. After the pool closes, applicants may apply to the new pool after April 2017.
