Associate or Full Professor In Residence
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking to recruit a physician scientist or basic research scientist with an established research program in the general area of Stem Cell Biology. Preference will be given to candidates with interest in mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of tissue injury (such as acute lung injury or traumatic brain injury). The successful candidate must be an MD, MD-PhD or PhD only and must have a demonstrated track record of obtaining extramural funding for their research program as well expertise in training graduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows in the research laboratory. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program in Stem Cell Biology. As well, the candidate will be expected to have modest teaching responsibility in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. Clinical service is not required.
The appointed recruit will become a member of the UCSF BioMedical Sciences graduate program for the purpose of training graduate students in their research laboratory. A competitive start-up package will be provided to ensure that the candidate gets a successful start at UCSF. There will be access to many shared pieces of equipment on the research floor and within the Department. This includes rodent study rooms, flow cytometry, histology and standard biochemistry items.
