The Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking an outstanding physician-scientist to serve as the Chief of our Division of General Internal Medicine. We are looking for a general internist with exemplary leadership, administrative, and mentoring skills who maintains a significant extramural grant portfolio and will work to enhance the clinical, research, and educational activities o the Division.
The University of Pittsburgh is annually ranked in the top five institutions in terms of NIH funding dollars, and UPMC, as a partner, continues to make major investments in the academic mission of the School of Medicine. The Division of General Internal Medicine currently has over 130 faculty members, maintains a robust and diverse clinical profile, and has a strong research infrastructure with multiple centers that address comparative effectiveness and quality, women's health, prevention, health care disparities, mental health services, decision-making, palliative care, and substance abuse. The educational arm of the Division includes the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE), multiple residency and fellowship tracks, a NIH-funded KL2, an AHRQ-funded PCOR K12, and NIH-funded TL1 programs.
The selected candidate will be provided substantial resources to create new centers of excellence and recruit a pool on talented physician-scientist and PhD faculty.
