The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC is recruiting a primary care physician assistant with experience in geriatrics to be a part of a fast paced person-centered medical team. The physician assistant will work collaboratively with our family physicians/geriatricians and other health professionals to provide high quality medical care.
A second role will be to support a HRSA-funded project on comprehensive inter-professional geriatric primary care-based assessment and training. The goals of the program are to improve recognition and care for patients who have cognitive impairment or a dementia diagnosis, and who, in addition, have significant medical co-morbidities. As part of this grant, the applicant will provide training and curriculum development for health profession students.
In addition, the candidate will participate in activities related to elder abuse research and education. The Department of Family Medicine operates the National Center on Elder Abuse, serving as the central location for dissemination of information in the field of elder abuse to professionals and the public. The department also has a number of grants focused on accurate identification, intervention, and prevention of elder abuse in our communities.
The successful applicant will have well-developed skills in the following: clinical care for older adults, curriculum development, training instructors and data collection for clinical research.
