Posting Summary: The Adli lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Technician 2 to perform experiments, maintain laboratory space and equipment, process purchases for the lab, and maintain a laboratory notebook with accurate data results.
Position requires Associate's degree or higher in a science-related field with a minimum of two years of laboratory experience, preferably in an academic laboratory setting. Student experience may be considered, and a Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience. Incumbent may be required to assist the Principle Investigator with the supervision of the work of graduate students and assist senior staff with areas of need.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Associate's degree or higher in a science-related field.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: At least two years' experience in laboratory setting is required. Student or relevant experience may be considered. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience. Some experience with animal care is also required.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Preferred Specific Experience: Previous laboratory experience in an academic lab setting is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, including surgical and experimentation. 2. Ability to obtain and record data. 3. Ability to prepare solutions or reagents. 4. Ability to analyze data. 5. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 6. Ability to work with animals.
