Posting Summary: The laboratory of Dr. Bryce Paschal in the Center for Cell Signaling at the University of Virginia seeks a Laboratory Specialist 1 to conduct experiments, work on research projects, oversee mouse colonies, order supplies and keep the lab stocked, maintain lab equipment, follow University, State and Federal safety regulations, and train lab personnel in laboratory techniques and protocols. Incumbent must be able to work independently and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a related science, 1 to 4 years of laboratory research experience (may include student experience), knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety requirements, have the ability to care for lab animals, tissue culture experience, be familiar with the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and have the ability to train and supervise others if needed. A Master's degree in a related science is preferred.
