The Procedural Treatment Unit (PTU) is a 22-bed unit that covers all pre admissions and post recovery treatment to the four Cardiac ORs and four cath lab and EP labs. Recovers surgical and cath lab patients.
The RN provides skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Both Thornton and Hillcrest perform surgical services in Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastics, general, Oncology, Head and Neck, Vascular and Open Heart, Gynecology. Additional services at Hillcrest include Trauma and Burn surgeries. Identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support for policies.
Must have CA RN license, ACLS and BLS.
Two years of recent Critical Care RN experience required as well as recent Cardiac, Thoracic, and vascular procedure/surgical experience.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to work within a team environment.
Must be available to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, call, overtime, and to float to all PTU/PACU locations as needed (in Hillcrest and La Jolla).
Must be able to take call.
