Summary Description: Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center are seeking applications for the position of Chief, General Medicine. The Division Chief will oversee one of the primary divisions of the Department of Medicine. Candidate will hold a faculty position at the level of Professor of Medicine. The Division has multi-disciplinary research strength in areas that include Epidemiology, health behavior, behavioral medicine, and psychology, patient-centered outcomes research and health services research. Specific areas of research focus include cardiovascular epidemiology and modeling of prevention and treatment strategies, hypertension, epidemiology of chronic pulmonary diseases, research on disparities in health and aging, and behavioral and psychosocial determinants and interventions for hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The Division has many outstanding clinical programs focused on improving the health and quality of life for residents in New York City's underserved communities by providing high quality, affordable, patient-friendly care with an emphasis on preventive health care and promoting wellness. The Division currently encompasses a leading Hospitalist program and many clinical outpatient practice sites. The Division also hosts the Program in Narrative Medicine, which includes research on the use of narrative to promote reflection in clinical education and practice.The next Chief will work closely with the faculty and departmental, school and hospital leadership in achievingambitious goals for clinical care and scholarship including population based management and personalized medicine initiatives. He/she will also serve as a member of the leadership team of the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD with a federally funded research and national/international recognition.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in internal medicine and must be eligible to practice in the State of New York.
