The research associate will contribute to a funded initiative to develop and implement procedures for assessing the accuracy and flexibility of facial identification algorithms being developed by our collaborators at the University of Maryland. The primary focus of the work is to diagnose and address weaknesses in the performance of these algorithms that can be used to optimize and improve performance.
The project is directed by Prof. Alice J. O'Toole and will be conducted in the Face Perception Labs at The University of Texas at Dallas. This lab conducts research in human face recognition, using interdisciplinary techniques from psychology, computational modeling, and cognitive neuroscience.
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
This job is appropriate for an upper level undergraduate student or a master's student in computer science, cognitive science, engineering or related field with interests in computer vision, pattern recognition, and neural networks. Interest in face recognition is also desirable. The successful candidate will be competent in either Matlab or R programming language and will be willing to learn.
