This position entails responsibilities in support of our 26-month Master of Physician Assistant Studies curriculum and in support of the mission, goals and objectives of Oregon Health & Science University, the School of Medicine and the Division of Physician Assistant Education. This faculty position will report directly to the Director of the Physician Assistant Program.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include:
In support of the PA Program curriculum, the faculty member will:
Participate as a lecturer/small group facilitator throughout the curriculum, teaching in areas of expertise and program need
Participate in the grading of student assignments and evaluation of student academic and professional development
Participate as an instructor/proctor for clinical assessment activities
Participate in student activities of the clinical phase of the program.
Assist in the recruitment of clinical sites
Participate in the ongoing schedule of periodic site visits to evaluate students on clinical rotation and the supervision provided by clinical preceptors
Support other PA faculty in other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director
Assist in ongoing program self-assessment activities
As a member of the faculty of the PA Program, the Faculty Associate will:
Serve as an advisor to first and second year students.
Serve on program committees as assigned by the Program Director
Participate in faculty development activities.
Serve as a role model for PA Program students, staff and faculty.
Represent the PA Program within the OHSU community and statewide medical community.
Participate in national, regional and state PA professional organizations.
Support other PA faculty in other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
The eligible candidate will be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program, will be current in their national certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and will be eligible for licensure with the Oregon Medical Board. A masters degree, preferably in a health care related course of study, is required for this position. A minimum of three years of clinical practice as a PA is required. Previous faculty/teaching experience is highly desirable.
