E-RESOURCE AND CATALOGING ASSISTANT (Library Services Specialist III)

Primary Duties: Working independently, under general supervision the E-Resource and Cataloging Assistant performs specialized technical and paraprofessional duties in support of library services. Incumbent will perform copy cataloging of library materials, such as monographs, serials, periodicals, on-line journals, music scores, electronic-based materials, media, and other print and non-print materials, and conduct database maintenance to ensure the integration and accessibility of Meriam Library's electronic resources. Responsibilities include maintaining integrity of data contained in the integrated Library System as it pertains to electronic resources, monitoring and maintaining the library's journal linker, and oversight of the library's LOCKSS instance. Additionally, incumbent will assist with policy development, including procedural guidelines, and complete special projects related to electronic resources and cataloging.
The qualifications listed above would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, or equivalent certification.
Four years of related library experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and education.
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. May need to travel across campus to other offices and buildings for meetings and events.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a typical library environment, using modern library technologies, such as Dell computer for computer programs utilized at desk: cataloging module of Library Management System; Acquisitions and Serials modules are utilized also; OCLC Connexion cataloging module; Microsoft Word for word processing/text writing; Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet maintenance.
