Essential Functions: A postdoctoral associate position is available in Dr. Jiemei Wang's lab in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The qualified individual is expected to work on a newly funded NIH R01 project to characterize the molecular mechanisms of stress signaling such as ER stress and oxidative stress in regulating endothelial progenitor cell/endothelial cell functions in diabetes-related vascular disorders using in vitro cell culture (cell lines and primary cells) and in vivo mouse wound healing models.The major duties are: independently manage cellular and molecular biology projects, including the design and performance of experiments, summarize and analyze data, prepare weekly progress report. Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Manage laboratory compliance requirements. Assist in maintaining laboratory operations, equipment, and reagent inventory. Present abstracts (oral/poster) at regional/national/international scientific meetings. Mentor graduate/undergraduate students. The individual is expected to submit postdoctoral fellowship within 1st or 2nd year. The lab is very committed to supporting trainees to develop into independent scientists.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in physiology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences or a related discipline.
