Job Summary/Basic Function: Duties: Advise students individually by telephone, e-mail and current technology regarding core curriculum issues, academic progress, graduation, and university requirements. Provide students with information focused on meeting academic needs, including transition to the college environment, exploration of various fields of study, and career options. Keep accurate records of student advising contacts and progress toward degree completion. Update and process degree plans, verify requirements using student information systems, and conduct orientation sessions. Work closely with other academic advisors, departments or colleges within the university to provide timely information on core/degree options and University policies. Utilize various computer software programs for registering, tracking, and communicating with students.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university and one year of related advising or case management experience. Superior verbal and written communication skills, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications. High level of organizational and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work with students. Capability to perform in a high-paced and team-oriented environment is essential.
Reports to: This position will report to the Executive Director of Division.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Advising experience at the college or university level, excellent listening skills, and desire to deliver high quality customer service. Subject matter expertise for specific degrees will be considered. Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Familiarity with Banner student records systems. Attention to detail, aptitude for multi-tasking, and dependability a must. May work extended hours within varying schedule. Occasional travel to professional meetings and conferences.
