Job Summary/Basic Function:
Lamar University seeks applications or nominations for the position of Social Work Faculty and Program Director. The position is available beginning January 2017. Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience and rank will be Assistant Professor or above.
Lamar's Social Work Programs is one of the most highly respected undergraduate social work programs in the state of Texas. Students come from diverse backgrounds representative of the people of eastern Texas and western Louisiana. Continuously accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1980, the program has a very strong history and an equally bright future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach required courses and elective seminars in the candidate's areas of interest and the Program's need;
Advise social work students and review student progress toward graduation;
Schedule classes in consultation with faculty and consonant with student needs;
Administrate the program in the Department and College context;
Continue progress of the Social Work Program toward reaffirmation of accreditation in 2020;
Accomplish scholarship in social work in the candidates areas of interest;
Engage in service to the Social Work Program, the Department and the larger University and Community.
Experience and Qualifications:
A Masters degree in social work from an CSWE accredited program required;
A doctorate in social work or a compatible field required;
At least 2 years post-MSW practice experience and teaching experience in a BSW program required;
Scholarly achievement consistent with the rank at hiring required;
Knowledge of Council on Social Work Education Accreditation;
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a broad range of constituents, including faculty, staff, and local and regional agency social workers;
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively across cultural boundaries with diverse groups faculty, staff, professionals and students;
Organizational and management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
