Chico State's Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for an academic year tenure-track position in Animal Cell Physiology to begin August 2017.
California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding.
Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. in Molecular/Cell Biology or Physiology. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, the doctorate must be complete prior to the appointment to a tenure-track position.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
Candidates should be committed to teaching excellence and to building a strong research & publication record. Instructional assignments will be consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students.
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research and scholarship with graduate and undergraduate students, and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.
- Postdoctoral experience and additional expertise in areas of specialty as well as evidence of teaching proficiency
- Candidates who can interact with current faculty in cell biology, immunology, virology and biochemistry, are especially sought
- Research expertise to help run and upgrade research/teaching facilities in cell biology or molecular biology

The Department of Biological Sciences includes 16 full-time faculty, 25 master's students, and 500 undergraduate biology majors with options in cell & molecular biology; ecology, evolution, and organismal biology; or plant biology, as well as 90 microbiology majors in general or clinical lab microbiology. Department programs are enhanced by diverse laboratory and field facilities, the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve; Butte Creek Ecological Preserve, the CSU Chico Vertebrate Museum, a stockroom; and greenhouses. Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period.
