Summary Description: The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) and the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine at Columbia University, invite applications for a faculty position at the Asisstant or Associate Professor level. The candidate is expected to lead research efforts in the immunopathogenesis, immunotherapy and prevention of autoimmune disease.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have an established track record of innovative, original research in the area. Preference will be given to scientists interested in developing "translational" activities that can interface with clinical investigative and clinical care programs in the Division of Rheumatology, headed by Joan Bathon, MD.
Preferred Qualifications: The candidate will dedicate 70-100% of his/her time to research and may have clinical responsibilities in the Division of Rheumatology/Department of Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with scientists in the CCTI to develop innovations in the laboratory and translate them into clinical studies. The candidate will be expected to develop an independent peer-review funded research program, to mentor students and fellows and to participate in other teaching activities of the CCTI and Columbia University Medical Center. The laboratory will be located in the newly-established CCTI, headed by Megan Sykes, MD, with opportunities for interactions with investigators in Transplantation Immunology, Type 1 Diabetes and other areas of basic and applied immunology. The candidate should have demonstrated ability or strong potential to lead an independent, NIH-funded research program in immunology and autoimmunity.
