Summary Description: Columbia University Medical Center- the Affiliation at Harlem Hospital's Department of Psychiatry is accepting applications foran Associate Director of Psychiatry.This individual reports directly to the Director of Service and oversees all aspects of clinical services for adults in the Department of Psychiatry. The duties of this position would include: ?Direct overall clinical responsibility for the 2 inpatient acute care units. Supervise the 4 attending psychiatrists, residents, activity therapists and psychologist on the unit. ?Improve communication and coordination among the disciplines of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and activity therapy to provide comprehensive individualized multidisciplinary care to patients on the inpatient units.?Direct supervisory responsibility for the attending psychiatrists in the Consultation/Liaison service.?Supervisory responsibility over the Chief of CPEP and Chief of Outpatient Services?Optimize the coordination of delivery of clinical care so patients can transition smoothly between clinical services of the department (CPEP, Inpatient, Outpatient, and Consultation/Liason).?Ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical care in all departmental clinical services for adults by developing and implementing policies and procedures for provision of clinical care in accordance with accepted professional practice guidelines and regulatory requirements.?Responsible of developing and promoting a culture in which clinical services are provided with respect and dignity for patients as well as staff. ?Conduct case conferences/case reviews in each clinical service on a regular schedule. ?Optimize liaison with medical/surgical services of the hospital.?In consultation with the Director of Psychiatry, develop metrics for assessing quality of care in all clinical services in the department, analyze data generated from such quality of care indicators, and develop and execute corrective plans of action.?Assist the Director of Service in leading a risk management team that systematically reviews all department functions from risk management perspective and develops and implements procedures to mitigate risk. This will be referred to as the Departmental Risk Mitigation Committee.?Assist the Director of Service, Director of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Training program, and the Director of the Child Psychiatry Fellowship program in preparation for regulatory and accreditation surveys.?Teach didactic courses and provide clinical supervision of adult psychiatry residents as directed by the Director of Psychiatry. ?25% administrative; 75% clinical
Minimum Qualifications: MD candidates must be board certified in Psychiatry or subspecialty.
Preferred Qualifications: Training and/or experience in Psychiatry or subspecialty, clinical psychology, or other relevant fields.
