Advertised Summary Job Description: The Clinical Coordinator III in the Department of Surgery will function under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator Manager of the Pancreas Center and has accountability to the Executive and Administrative Directors of the Pancreas Center. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the physicians, nurses, and all other clinical and administrative staff of the multidisciplinary Pancreas Center to provide quality clinical care and enhance patient education, medical clearance and long-term follow-up care, in addition will evaluate test findings; make initial medical diagnosis and initial therapeutic plan consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient. S/he will be responsible for the completion of patient's history and physical, order appropriate tests; provide patient education and discharge instructions, including development and implementation of a pre- and post-op education program. It is our mission that each of the patients who come to the Pancreas Center is assigned a "go to" Nurse Practitioner who will be responsible for the continuum of their care within the program, crossing multiple divisions.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience. Degree in Nursing, BSN, and Nurse Practitioner license required. Current NY state license ,NP Certification required
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work in high volume outpatient environment and show flexibility and make independent decisions in sometimes high stress situations. Ability to work collaboratively within cross-divisional groups. Must have patient care centered mentality and be able to expertly handle unexpected and highly sensitive situations related to pancreatic diseases.
Preferred Qualifications: Oncology and/or GI/Medicine experience and in Clinical Research Trials. Experience working with VNS, palliative care and/or hospice care. Experience in CROWN or electronic medical records.Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft Office are all preferred.
