Minimum Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience with supporting Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) plus strong analytical and interpersonal skills required. An Associates degree and 4 years of experience with supporting Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) may be considered. Medical Technologist experience in a laboratory setting a plus.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: Implement, maintain, and upgrade laboratory system software applications. Validate all software updates and changes to meet the necessary regulatory requirements of FDA, NYSDOH, DNV, AABB, ASHI, and CMS. Develop and coordinate training for end users on new applications and systems upgrades. Provide end user support and assistance. Install, setup, and maintain system hardware and networking. Develop, monitor, troubleshoot and support multiple system interfaces including but not limited to, laboratory instruments, HL7 interfaces to external systems, multiple billing systems, and remote laboratories. Monitor and maintain multiple laboratory reporting systems. Provide ad hoc database reporting systems and queries with experience in SQL. Assist users with analysis and development of new departmental applications and technologies to improve workflow and departmental efficiencies. Implement and support projects, internal and external, as required. Provide on-call support for all hardware, software and procedural problems for all clients, both internal and external. Provide service and support to multiple outside client accounts throughout the entire upstate region. Serve as a liaison for internal and external hospital departments, outside clients, and vendors. Evaluate and develop plans and procedures to improve system and departmental performance.
