Minimum Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's degree in library information sciences or commensurate degree with relevant experience. The successful candidate will have two years of supervisory experience and demonstrate a commitment to providing exemplary customer service to health care providers, clinicians, patients, and families. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to interdisciplinary team-building and collaborative partnerships required. The individual must have knowledge of outreach education services and events programming. Academic health sciences library or clinical experience, demonstrated ability coordinating volunteers, experience working with children, knowledge of evidence-based practices, and membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) preferred.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Clinical Reference Librarian will be responsible for the supervision of the day to day operations of the Family Resource Center at Upstate's Golisano Children's Hospital. Reporting to the Clinical Outreach Coordinator, the clinical reference librarian will be responsible for staffing the desk, managing the staff of the Family Resource Center, developing programming focused on play, distraction, education and engagement using a thoughtful, proactive, and user-oriented approach. Duties include, but are not limited to, ensuring a strong standard of service, providing customized group instruction and individual consultations, supporting evidence-based practice, and providing outreach services to the staff, patients, and families of University Hospital. The librarian will also maintain and further develop liaison relationships with health care providers across the Upstate Health Care System by facilitating effective use of library resources and services.
