Research Assistant Professor/Research Associate
The George Mason University Department of Criminology Law and Society is seeking a researcher to collaborate on research at the interface between health and criminology. This position will be located in Fairfax, Va. This research will support the work of different studies that seeks to further understand interventions to interrupt offending, substance abuse and risky behaviors. These are active trials that will allow for continued longitudinal follow-up offenders, as well as to design several randomized intervention studies to reduce substance use, HIV risk, and recidivism, and to enhance outcomes.
Duties include working on the study protocol, creating and maintaining databases, conducting sophisticated statistical analyses, managing research staff, collaborating with lab members on empirical articles, assisting in the design of new studies, and assisting in the supervision of our graduate research assistants and field staff.
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in social sciences or criminology, or a master’s degree plus substantial experience (at least seven years is strongly desired); outstanding quantitative skills, including experience with SPSS and SAS; and excellent writing and presentation skills. Experience with statistical analyses and the study of change over time is highly desired. Experience working with offender populations is also a plus. Applicants with a Ph.D. in hand are preferred. Applicants without a Ph.D. will be considered for a Research Associate classification/position title.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
