The salary range for this position is $2,466 to $3,886 per month. Starting salary placement will be at the minimum of the range.

Conditions of Employment
This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
Under the general direction of the Manager, General Services and additional lead work direction by the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator, the incumbent will perform work involving the collection, sorting and distribution of campus mail, the USPS mail and other printed and packaged materials for the University and campus community.
The incumbent is responsible for making campus mail pickups and deliveries, receiving, sorting and distributing campus mail, United States mail and files, as well as packages to the various departments and divisions. The mail clerk is engaged in sorting internal and external mail that is received daily, delivering that mail along with other packages that arrive by other vendors. They will weigh, stamp or run outgoing United States mail through a metering machine and may keep accounts to charge the various departments for mailing expenses. The mail clerk will prepare bulk mail and paperwork according to United States Postal Services (USPS) Postal regulations. The incumbent will use electric carts and gasoline vehicles for both on campus and off campus deliveries.
Performs other secondary duties as assigned.
Duties take place in a fast paced environment, including performing duties in various locations both indoors and outdoors on the Sonoma State University campus. Duties will include working in a confined space, with loud noise(s) while operating postal metering equipment. Frequent and daily pick-ups and deliveries are made throughout the campus which requires getting in and out of a mail cart regularly, pushing carts of mail and packages, and walking to departments with those deliveries. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime, weekend and evening work may be assigned on occasion to meet the operational needs of the department and campus. The incumbent must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such levels as is determined by the appropriate administrator.
Requires one year of general office clerical work, stock clerk work or delivery service work experience. Incumbent must possess general knowledge of office methods supplies and equipment. Ability to interpret and apply current postal rate charts and shipping regulations; ability to spell correctly; ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; ability to make arithmetical computations quickly and accurately. The incumbent will be required to have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, be able to work with a diverse group of individuals, be flexible and adaptable, organize and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting delivery deadlines, able to work in a fast paced environment, accept criticism and feedback, work cooperatively in group situations, work actively to resolve conflicts, able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance. This position requires the physical ability to lift and transport or move up to 50 pounds, stand and walk, use hands, and regularly read items at close vision. Must possess a valid California driver's license.
Evidence of degree(s) or certificate(s) and/or license(s) required at time of hire.
