The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology (NST) at the University of California, Berkeley invites full and part-time applications for temporary instructors to teach in NST should an opening arise. Possible courses for instruction include Medical Nutrition Therapy, Food Science, Foodservice Management, Community Nutrition, Human Food Practices, Food and Culture, Introduction to Food and others. Courses may include lectures or laboratories, or both. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from teaching 1 to 10 units.
Position may be responsible for supervising teaching assistants for a large introductory nutrition course, act as a DPD student advisor, and assist with DPD program management as needed. DPD courses include Medical Nutrition Therapy, Food Science, Foodservice Management, Community Nutrition and Human Food Practices/Food and Culture. A successful applicant need not be proficient in the subject matter of all these courses, but should be proficient in more than one topic.
Basic Qualifications (by date of application): Three years of professional experience in dietetics practice by date of application.
Additional Qualifications (by date of hire): Applicants should have a minimum of a Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition, foodservice, public health or a related field
Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of experience is preferred. Preference will be given to RD applicants with demonstrated ability to teach professional courses in the DPD curriculum and those with leadership experience and demonstrated commitment to the profession of dietetics; salary commensurate with experience.
