THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO, DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu) AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org ) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and are jointly recruiting a Non-invasive Pediatric Cardiologist/Echocardiographer for the unified Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego.
This 520-bed facility serves as a major regional tertiary care hospital for children and is the major teaching facility for the Department of Pediatrics of the UCSD School of Medicine. The Division of Cardiology at UCSD-RCHSD provides a full range of Pediatric Cardiology services, including comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical services with more than 400 surgical procedures annually, dynamic interventional cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and heart transplant/failure programs, and an ACGME approved pediatric cardiology fellowship program. There are ample opportunities available for clinical, epidemiologic, engineering, and basic science research at UCSD and at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is the region's pediatric medical center serving San Diego, Imperial and southern Riverside counties. We are the sixth largest children's hospital in the country, are the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare, are the region's only Level 1 pediatric trauma center, and provide care to almost 90% of the region's children.
We have immediate need for a non-invasive Pediatric Cardiologist/Echocardiographer to expand our division of 18 pediatric cardiologists. Our Echocardiography Laboratory is an IAC-accredited laboratory that last year performed over 12,000 echocardiograms on children and on adults with congenital heart disease. Comprehensive non-invasive imaging services at Rady Children's Hospital also include busy cardiac MRI and cardiac CT, with opportunity for appropriately-trained faculty candidates to also participate in the MRI and/or CT program.
Candidates must have an MD and be Board Certified in Pediatrics, must have sub-board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology, and must be licensed or licensable to practice medicine in the State of California. The successful candidate must have training and experience in a busy pediatric echocardiography lab, with fourth-year advanced non-invasive imaging fellowship training (particularly in fetal echocardiography) preferred. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical, teaching, and research skills and should possess the qualifications for academic appointment at the rank of Assistant and/or Associate Professor.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
Review of applications will begin on June 20, 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
Interested applicants must submit a CV, Statement of Research, Statement of Teaching, contact information for 3 references and a separate statement summarizing past or potential contributions to diversity (For further information about contributions to diversity statements, see http://facultyequity.ucsd.edu/Faculty-Applicant-C2D-Info.asp).
