Minimum Qualifications: Current New York State licensed Midwife and may be either a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or a Certified Midwife (CM). Is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) or National Association of Professional Midwives. Master's Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Business or Administration preferred. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required. Minimum two years relevant experience preferred. Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: Provides comprehensive, primary health care to essentially healthy women.Evaluates antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and gynecological patients in ambulatory setting at the Upstate University Hospital Community Campus (UUH) Physicians Office Building and the management of these patientsadmitted to UUH. Participates in the care of women with medical complications in collaboration with Obstetricians-Gynecologists. Participate in teaching of medical students, residents, and midwife students. Will use innovated ways toprovide clinical education to patients of varied ethnicities and socioeconomic strata. Participate in quality improvement and safety activities.Performs accurate history and physical examinations on essentially healthy women.Provides primary care in an ambulatory setting to women including ordering and evaluation of diagnostic tests and management of minor complications.Provides inpatient obstetrical care for essentially healthy women including labor management, delivery of infant, repair of lacerations/episiotomy and management of minor complications. Initiates emergency care as needed.Provides individualized client teaching and counseling utilizing the midwifery philosophy.Identifies deviations from normal and consults, co-manages or refers as appropriate.Completes necessary documentation.Participates in research and continuing education activities.Instructs and supervises midwifery/medical students and residents.Performs other duties as assigned.
