Northwestern University invites applications for the inaugural Associate Vice President for Equity (AVPE). Reporting to the Provost, the AVPE will have primary responsibility for providing inspirational and operational leadership to sustaining a diverse and inclusive climate and culture at Northwestern, in which there is a rigorous awareness of and response to discriminatory behavior.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned leader with experience in executing and presenting significant university wide programs, integrating programmatic responses into a complex and decentralized organization, and managing a strong, highly competent team working in evolving and important areas of compliance. The AVPE ensures integrity, fairness and effectiveness in programs that manage prevention and responses to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation. This senior leader will bring together the program areas working with all members of the Northwestern community – students, faculty, and staff to ensure a consistent and well-designed set of principles and practices across the University.
The AVPE is responsible for creating at Northwestern an exemplar for collaboratively working with other University leaders to achieve the goal of increasing campus diversity and awareness while also managing the response to any behaviors that may ultimately be contrary to the principles of diversity and inclusion that Northwestern holds dear.
