Advertised Summary Job Description: The Motor Neuron center has an open position for Senior Technician. We seek a highly motivated individual to participate in research investigating pathological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases.
The candidate will work alongside a research team of Senior Research Fellows, Postdoctoral Research Scientists and Graduate students within an academic laboratory setting on mammalian cell cultures (primary and immortalized cell lines) and basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, including DNA cloning, PCR, and Western blot analysis.
The incumbent will also work with laboratory rodents, perform rodent perfusion and prepare tissues for histology.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Significant previous experience working in a research lab environment is requested.
Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail, maintain meticulous laboratory records and good communication skills is essential.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience on mammalian cell cultures (primary and immortalized cell lines) and basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, including DNA cloning, PCR, and Western blot analysis is strongly preferred. Experience handling laboratory rodents, performing rodent perfusion, preparing tissues for histology is preferred. Working experience as laboratory manager is desired.
