Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan University is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track position to teach undergraduate courses in General Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, preferably Environmental Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering but other areas of Civil and Environmental Engineering will also be considered. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level.
The College of Engineering has innovative Bachelor of Science degree programs in Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering that emphasize multidisciplinary experiences, teamwork, technical communication, and continuous engineering applications throughout the four years, as well as a Master of Science in Engineering degree program. The College of Engineering was created through a $100M gift from Henry and Betty Rowan and has continued to expand through the new South Jersey Tech Park. We have a highly selective student-centered undergraduate program with an expanding graduate program. At Rowan we have a dynamic engineering college and are looking for faculty with new and innovative ideas. Multidisciplinary collaborations are a norm at our engineering college.
Major metropolitan areas within the Northeast Corridor are within easy reach of Glassboro. Philadelphia is a thirty-minute drive, New York City and Washington, D.C. are less than three hours away, and the Jersey Shore is only an hour drive.
A Ph.D. in civil engineering and a baccalaureate degree from an ABET- accredited engineering program (or equivalent) are required. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The anticipated starting date for this civil engineering visiting faculty position will be September 1, 2016.
