Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Clinical Laboratory Technologist has responsibilities for operations within the laboratory to ensure quality and safety of cord blood processing, cryopreservation, distribution and all laboratory-associated testing and reports directly to Director and Laboratory Director. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including FACT/AABB, ASHI, OSHA, CAP, CLIA, NMDP, NYS DOH, and the FDA; Follows the Cord Blood Bank policies, Quality Management Plan, Safety Plan, Environmental Master Plan, Validation Master Plan, and Standard Operating Procedures; Ensures manufacturing is according to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and current Good Tissue Practice (cGTP) guidelines; Assists in optimizing product manufacturing, analytical testing, facility maintenance, and process and equipment validations; Ensures accuracy in all procedures related to receipt, testing, processing, cryopreservation, storage, release, distribution of cord blood units, proficiency testing, and administrative operations of the Cord Blood Processing Facility. Verifies the accuracy and completeness of testing and typing data; Assists the Quality Manager Supervisor/Quality Control Unit in ensuring quality management to establish and maintain systems and implement all Standard Operating Procedures related to quality management for compliance; Processes, cryopreserves, stores, and transports research and clinical-grade cord blood units; Coordinates with the laboratory team to include laboratory usage, ordering, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and supplies; Provides training, educational and technical expertise, trains laboratory skills to new employees as required; Performs immunohematological studies on referred blood samples;Provides additional research, investigational, and/or process development as required.
