Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. Rowan is one of two universities in the country to offer M.D. and D.O. medical-degree programs. The School of Osteopathic Medicine has a faculty practice plan that serves approximately 200,000 patients throughout Southern New Jersey. The institution is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes. Applications are invited for multiple positions in the Department of Mathematics. The positions are part-time positions that do not include health benefits. Primary responsibilities include teaching mathematics courses designed for second year engineering and science students, including topics in linear algebra, and ordinary and partial differential equations. Normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute in meaningful ways to service responsibilities in the Department, at the level appropriate for part-time faculty.
The Department currently has 270 undergraduate and 26 graduate mathematics majors, and offers B.A., B.S. and M.A. degrees, as well as concentrations in Statistics & Operations Research and Applied Mathematics.
At least a Masters degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline, with a strong background and interest in teaching mathematics, is required. Prior teaching experience, and the ability to teach linear algebra, and ordinary and partial differential equations, are also required. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate not only mathematical ability, but also the ability to communicate mathematics clearly and effectively to undergraduate students. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
