Summary Description: The Department of Medicine of the Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons has a faculty position for an enthusiastic, full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure track. The Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health (CBCH), Division of Cardiology has an extensive NIH-supported research program with expertise in hypertension, cardiovascular, behavioral, and psychosocial observational, experimental and interventional studies. Responsibilities will include maintaining an active research program in the applicant area of expertise; mentoring junior faculty and senior fellows in clinical research methods; contributing to CBCH team science; teaching graduate courses; and direct patient care.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applicants must have either a doctoral degree or MD with a Masters degree, or both, and evidence of recognized research achievement. The candidate must have demonstrated evidence for ability to work in a highly collaborative fashion. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in internal medicine and if necessary its divisional sub-specialty and must be eligible to practice in the State of New York. Candidates should be early career investigators with MD degree and advanced research degree, preferably PhD, with the potential for investigator-initiated NIH funding. Candidates should also have strong clinical and teaching qualifications. All candidates must show promise for future development. Candidates must also have strong publishing and teaching future and some measure of academic/research or teaching independence from mentor .
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success in securing externally-funded, investigator-initiated NIH research grants; a record of peer-reviewed publications in leading journals; and strong verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
