Purpose of Position:
This position is a mid-level, collateral, non-tenure track faculty position in the area of Urology. The faculty member should have clinical interests that complement and expand existing expertise in the Division. The faculty member will also support the division with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The faculty member will be fellowship trained or with appropriate experience in Urologic Oncology and Endourology. The faculty member will be responsible for providing clinical services in urologic oncology and endourology and to train residents in this specialty and provide state of the art care to the patients of central Virginia.
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities including formal lectures and case presentations to undergraduate medical students encompassing all areas of urology and applied anatomy and physiology.
Faculty member will be expected to be an active participant in clinical trials in his/her subspecialty interest.
Faculty member will serve on departmental and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
The faculty member will be expected to build and maintain a busy patient centered clinical practice with focus on urologic oncology. This includes both inpatient and outpatient management of all urological diagnoses and operative procedures. Opportunities will exist for expansion of VCU Division of Urology services to outlying clinics and surrounding communities. Special interests or sub-specialization is encouraged. A multidisciplinary approach is encouraged with our colleagues in nephrology, transplant medicine, and others.
■Must be Board Certified in Urology
Fellowship training or equivalent experience in Urologic Oncology and minimally-invasive surgery including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques.
■Dedicated to teaching residents and medical students
■Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required
■Commitment to laboratory and/or clinical research within the faculty member's subspecialty interest
Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
