Assistant Professor OTS (Public Health Practice)- The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh (http://www.bchs.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the area of evaluation science and public health practice. Candidates should have training and experience in health program evaluation with a focus on population/community-based interventions whose goal is to prevent or reduce morbidity and mortality.
BCHS applies cutting-edge behavioral and social science methods to examine how people recognize health threats and obtain care, and what factors determine community health. The Department has a strong commitment to conducting practice-oriented research, to developing evidence-based interventions and to translating and disseminating findings to promote behavioral and policy change.
Public Health Practice track faculty are expected to provide an important link between the School and external health professionals, organizations, agencies and institutions.
The candidate will be expected to teach in the Department's master's, doctoral and Evaluation Certificate programs, introducing our students to modern methods of planning. Implementing, and evaluating public health programs. This individual will also serve as Director of the Evaluation Certificate and as Practicum Advisor to ensure quality learning in multi-disciplinary academic/organizational settings. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly productivity or the potential to transition to independent investigator status will be required.
We seek candidates with an interest in collaborating across disciplines within the schools of health sciences and across the University, who will work well in a collegial environment; who show promise for excellence in teaching and research; and who are able to facilitate community engagement in the evaluation of public health interventions.
The successful candidate shall have either an earned doctorate in a behavioral, public health, or a social science discipline with training in public health research and practice.
