Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. The Department of Political Science and Economics and the American Studies Program at Rowan University is jointly seeking an Americanist, with an interdisciplinary research focus preferred, for a one-year position for 2016-2017 academic year. Teaching duties will include three courses per semester: four Political Science courses and two for the American Studies program. The specific courses include Introduction to American Government, Introduction to American Studies, Interdisciplinary Research and Writing, and either Race, Poverty in the US or Black American Politics determined by his/her area of research. Other responsibilities include regular departmental service and contributing to the department?s Race, Class and Gender specialization.
The successful candidate should have a Masters degree, Ph.D. degree preferred, in Political Science. or American Studies. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to teach in a project and problem-based learning environment.
